All 18 UPLB graduates who took the 8th Certificate in Industrial Engineering (CIE) Exam held last December 4, 2016 passed. This marks the first time that IE graduates from UPLB participated in the said certification exam.
Engr. Dorothy Faith C. Masong led UPLB takers after finishing Top 8. Eight more UPLB graduates landed in Top 20, namely: Leianne Y. Casupang, 9; Rosa Maria A. Castillo, 10; Angelou M. Ibanez, 11; Nicole Elizabeth B. Paras, 17; Jessa Marie M. Mojica, 17; Allen Lemuel G. Lemence, 18; Jochebed M. Bombita, 19; and, Christine Anne C. Bagay, 20.
The other successful examinees include Rani Aina C. Angchinges, Maebelle G. Aralar, Anna Marie S. Cabantog, John Arvel T. Canilang, Ruth Esther T. Dangue, Paul Alfred DL. Dichosa, John Derick S. Magpantay, Jeezle Irish M. Royo, and Arvin B. Saturno.
The CIE Exam is administered annually by the IE Certification Board (IECB) under the supervision of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE). In a post made by PIIE announcing the result, 522 of the 778 takers passed the exam equivalent to a national passing rate of 67.10%. The oath-taking ceremony was held last February 21, 2017 in Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.
Aside from being PIIE-certified, CIE passers will be included in the ASEAN Registry of Engineers as Associate Engineers, offering them recognition from other ASEAN nations.
